Kotoko’s Financial Contribution to GFA Revealed: Ex-President Nyantakyi Speaks
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has shed light on the financial contributions of premier division clubs in Ghana, revealing that Asante Kotoko alone contributed a staggering 50% of the total pool of monies paid to the GFA from league matches over a 13-year period.
According to Nyantakyi, each premier division club in Ghana pays 12.5% of gate proceeds to the GFA for every league match played. This revenue stream is a vital source of income for the GFA, enabling the organization to fund various football development programs and activities.
Nyantakyi’s revelation highlights the significant financial contribution made by Asante Kotoko to the GFA over the years. The club’s massive following and consistent success on the pitch have enabled it to generate substantial revenue from gate proceeds, with 50% of this amount being paid to the GFA.
The remaining 50% of the total pool of monies paid to the GFA from league matches was contributed by the other premier division clubs, including Hearts of Oak. This statistic underscores the importance of these clubs in generating revenue for the GFA and supporting the development of football in Ghana.
Nyantakyi’s comments provide valuable insight into the financial dynamics of Ghanaian football and the significant role played by Asante Kotoko in supporting the GFA. As the GFA continues to work towards developing and promoting football in Ghana, the contributions of clubs like Kotoko will remain crucial to its success.
