Asante Kotoko’s leading marksman Albert Amoah is set to miss eight weeks of action due to a partial tear of the anterior talofibular ligament in his right leg ¹. The forward sustained the injury during the team’s 1-1 draw against Medeama last week and has already missed the club’s FA Cup round-16 win.
Amoah’s absence will be deeply felt, especially as the team prepares to host debutant Vision FC on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum expressed his disappointment at losing Amoah, saying, “It’s unpleasant news losing him and Kotei at this busy stage of the season.”
Coach Ogum recounted the moment Amoah got injured, saying, “I initially had chills when it happened during the game because Albert is naturally a strong boy, but the shout he made during the impact left me worried.” Despite the setback, Ogum remains optimistic, adding, “Injuries are part of the game, and we can just hope he recovers quickly, as he has shown with his previous injury.”
Amoah’s injury is a significant blow to Kotoko’s attacking lineup, but the team will be hoping to cope with his absence and maintain their momentum in the league.
