Former Ghana international, Frimpong Manso, has urged Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to drop players lacking full commitment to the national team.
Manso, currently head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, expressed his frustration with the team’s performance in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, where Ghana sits third in Group F with five points.
“In this group, we should have easily qualified without any mathematical calculations,” Manso said in an interview with Akoma FM. “Our team lacked the commitment to die for the nation.”
Manso emphasized the importance of dedication, stating, “Otto Addo should drop all players who are unwilling to play because, given what they are doing, our local players can outperform them.”
Ghana’s current standing in the qualifiers has made qualification more challenging, with a seven-point gap between them and leaders Angola.
AFCON Qualifiers Group F Standings:
1. Angola (12 points)
2. Sudan (10 points)
3. Ghana (5 points)
Manso’s comments come as pressure mounts on Coach Addo to revamp the squad and ensure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars’ next qualifier match is crucial in determining their fate in the competition.
Will Coach Addo heed Manso’s advice and shake up the squad?
